| 2008 Birdhouse in Shanghai (Purpose of Exhibition) In the Heiligendamm Summit held in June this year, it was agreed "to seriously consider decreasing emission of greenhouse gas at least by half by 2050."space like that of a "birdhouse (bird's nest box)." Its solidarity circle has greatly grown in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, New York, London, Milan and Helsinki. A new activity has started in Beijing where the Olympics will be held next year (2008). Our concept "The Earth is Our Nest" is about to be accepted also in Shanghai where China's first ever world exposition "World Expo Shanghai 2010" will be held. With "the city in harmony" as the concept, the World Expo Shanghai pursues the harmony between "humans and nature", "history and the future" and "between humans. It will act as a platform for exhibition and communication of the worlds most-advanced city designs which coexist with the global environment. On this stage, our Birdhouse Project intends to create activities in solidarity with both the people of China and around the world. As its first step, in the fall of 2008, we will hold the first 2008 Birdhouse in Shanghai in the Mori Building's"Shanghai World Financial Center," which is being built with the concept of "the vertical complex city" and "the ecological city" in Shanghai. This landmark tower rising 101 stories and standing 492 meters above the ground will be a new base for forming"the network for considering the environment" in China, Asia and the world. We believe that wonderful birdhouses will be created through cooperation and creative competition between the top creators and artists in China, the world and the students ranging from the elementary school to the university in Shanghai. Through our unique Birdhouse Project in Shanghai where we "feel," "learn," "think," "create" and "participate" together, we expect that the circle of more people of Shanghai will expand.
